This Epic Post Will Not Inspire You

I was going to write some epic blog post that was going to blow your freaking mind.

After reading it, you were going to sell your house, put your kids in your backpack and sail around the world. Your life would be transformed because of my witty humor and slightly above average vocabulary that would make you feel a deep and passionate need to change your life for the better.

Don’t we all wish we had the power to do that?

Some people have the power to inspire you in an epic way. Steve Kamb does a fantastic job of helping you level up your life through fitness. Chris Guillebeau inspires people to hack the system and live out their dreams of traveling the world. Ramit Sethi uses a no-nonsense style he uses to help you get your debts paid and become financially comfortable.

They’re all very good at their jobs. If it wasn’t for them, there’s some pretty epic stuff I wouldn’t have done.

I wanted to do the same thing. I wanted to encourage others to make big changes in their life.

I spent a long time doing research on how to make the most incredible blog post in the history of blogging. During my research, I came across one article by Chuck Wendig. He blogs because he loves doing this and that’s when it hit me.

Do I really love doing this?

I really do want to inspire others. Nothing makes me happier than helping other people realize just how much they can do. Nothing makes me happier than bringing extra smiles and happiness into the world.

But I’ve spent so much time trying to be perfect, trying to find some formula to make people like me enough so that they will be inspired.

Life doesn’t work that way. Life is messy. While some of us experience epic ups and downs, most days are just 24 hours of work, eat, sleep, repeat. That doesn’t mean it’s bad. You don’t have to sell your house and travel around the world.

You can do that if you want,  and if you do go to any of those blogs I’ve linked above and you’ll see just how much help you’ve already got.

I’m not going to promise you anything. I am a creative writing student, a mother, a wife and a person who sometimes can get distracted.

But what I will do is share what I can with you. I will do my best to show you the journey of someone who is just starting out. I want to show you all those little things that sometimes don’t show up on those epic blogs by epic people.

This is my road to being happy and I want to share that with the world.

I’m listening, I’m here and I really want to explore those areas of life that we all have questions for. I want to explore the processes of creativity and shine a light in the darkest corners.

You’re welcome to join me on this long, rocky path.

Let’s take the first step.

Tell me: What inspires you? What do you want to learn more about? What little things in life make you happy?
